The New York Cosmos, the most celebrated soccer club in the history of the U.S., is launching their 2011 Official Fan Ball on October 23, 2010, 12 NN-5 PM at Planet Hollywood in Times Square. This is a special, early release pre-sale to celebrate the birthday of worldwide soccer legend Pelé, who was the New York Cosmos’ star player in the 1970s. He is involved with today’s New York Cosmos as its Honorary President.

To compete for the title of MVT, participants must sign-up for a free Twitter account and add #MVT to your tweets during each round of the basketball playoffs for a chance to win a year’s supply of Wheaties FUEL and memorabilia autographed by one of the Wheaties Fuel athletes — Kevin Garnett, Peyton Manning and Albert Pujols. The Wheaties “Most Valuable Tweeter” competition will consist of four rounds corresponding with each stage of the basketball playoffs. The action will begin at 11:59 p.m. ET the night before Game 1 of each playoff round and will end at 11:59 p.m. ET on the day of the last game in that respective round. To be eligible, each tweet must contain the hashtag #MVT.

Ten finalists will be chosen for each playoff round in three categories—Most Tweets, Most Retweets and Furthest Reach (or most followers). Finalists of each round will receive a year’s supply of Wheaties FUEL. The finalists will then have their tweets evaluated, and the person whose tweets are reposted, forwarded, quoted and commented on the most will be deemed the “Most Valuable Tweeter.” The MVT of each round will receive a Wheaties FUEL-branded item autographed by one of the Wheaties FUEL athletes.
